Joseph M. Jacobs, President, co-founded Wexford Capital LP in 1994, and co-heads WREI. Joe is primarily responsible for overseeing the private equity and real estate activities of WCLP. He has served on the boards and creditors’ committees of a number of public and private companies in which WCLP has held investments. From 1982-94, Joe was employed by Bear Stearns & Co., Inc. where he attained the position of Senior Managing Director. While at Bear Stearns, Joe was active in bankruptcies and restructurings and was responsible for all of the firm’s real estate investment banking activities, including debt and equity financing of real estate on both a private and public basis, real estate investment, and advisory services. From 1979-82, he was employed as a commercial lending officer at Citibank, N.A. Joe holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Philip Braunstein, Managing Principal, joined Wexford in 2007. Phil co-heads WREI and is primarily responsible for the day-to-day oversight of WREI, including direction of the firm's investment strategy through collaboration with Joe Jacobs, sourcing investment opportunities and joint venture relationships, structuring and negotiating partnership and real estate acquisitions, and providing oversight to the WREI team and collaboration with operating partners on asset management and disposition decisions. Phil has been active in real estate since joining the firm in 2007 and has served on the boards of a number of companies in which WREI has held investments. Phil graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University with a B.S. in applied economics and management.
Phil Bottfeld, Chief Financial Officer, joined WREI in 2020 and is primarily responsible for the accounting, financial planning, and treasury functions of WREI. Previously from 2014-2020, Phil served as the Director of Fund Accounting at Elion Partners, LLC where he oversaw the finance and accounting departments that spanned over $1.5 billion of assets under management.  From 2010-2013, Phil served as a Senior Assurance Associate of Ernst & Young where he led audit engagements specializing in real estate, technology and large municipalities. Phil earned his Master of Accounting from Florida International University and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Florida. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida.

Hunter Monsour, Vice President – Investments & Development, joined WREI in 2020 in the real estate private equity group. Hunter's primary responsibilities include all phases of development including zoning, entitlements, design, permitting, and construction. Prior to joining WREI, Hunter Monsour worked at Strategic Property Partners, where he was involved in several large scale development projects. Hunter received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Southern California as a Dean's Scholar and later received his Master of Sustainable Real Estate Development from Tulane University.
Matt Austin, Director – Asset Management, joined Wexford Capital LP in 2010 in the real estate private equity group. His primary responsibilities include developing and managing a portfolio of office buildings, industrial buildings, single family developments and commercial land holdings in Oklahoma City, as well as providing oversight on commercial leasing for projects in other markets. Prior to joining WCLP, Matt was a real estate development attorney at the Polsinelli Law Firm in Kansas City for five years specializing in the areas of zoning and entitlements, real estate finance, and economic incentives. Matt earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) with Distinction from the University of Oklahoma, and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas. Matt currently serves on the Board of Governors for the KU Law School.
David Huke, Vice President – Acquisitions and Asset Management, joined WREI in 2023 and is primarily responsible for sourcing investment opportunities and helping lead WREI’s continued growth throughout Florida. Prior to joining WREI, David served as the Vice President of Acquisitions & Capital Markets for Hidrock Properties where he sourced and executed on $500 million of real estate transactions between New York and Florida. David received his Bachelor of Finance from Miami University’s Farmer School of Business.

Matija Pecotic, Director - Capital Markets, joined WREI in 2022 and is primarily responsible for sourcing capital. Previously, Matija played full-time on the ATP World tennis tour, reaching a career high of #206 in the world, and playing for the Croatian Davis Cup and United Cup Team.
Prior to his time on the ATP World tennis tour, Matija worked for a family office in New York City, focusing on venture capital and real estate. Matija earned his Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Finance from Princeton University, and his Master in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Zach Martin, Corporate Controller, joined WREI in 2020, is primarily responsible for construction, property, fund accounting, and financial reporting for WREI. Previously from 2017-2020, Zach was a Senior Audit Associate at RSM, leading audit engagements specializing in FinTech, specialty finance, county governments, and private equity-backed companies. Zach earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from Florida State University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida.
Matt Lim, Associate - Investments, joined WREI in 2021 in the real estate private equity group. Matt's primary responsibilities include underwriting new transactions, asset management, and market research. Prior to joining WREI, Matt worked on the acquisitions team at Sterling Organization — a real estate private equity firm where he was responsible for underwriting and evaluating core and value-add opportunities. Matt graduated Cum Laude from Cornell University with a major in Biometry and Statistics and a minor in Real Estate.

Tim Shields, Fund Accountant, joined WREI in 2022. Tim is primarily responsible for fund accounting and financial reporting. Previously from 2019-2022, Tim was a Senior Audit Associate at Grant Thornton, leading audit engagements within the private equity, logistics and healthcare industries. Tim earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from Florida State University and his Masters in Accounting from Florida State University as well. Tim is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida.
Dannelle Swearingim, Staff Accountant, joined WREI in 2022, is primarily responsible for property accounting. Previously, Dannelle was an accountant for Caliber Companies, a real estate investment firm based in Oklahoma. Dannelle earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
